Wulf Den Drum Corps History
|
Or: "A Study in Inclarity"... This is a rough history, numbed by booze, of the early beginnings of the corps through present. - Bai Xiao Hu

August 2001
Arion drummed, Nicholas drummed, Hu showed up once. In the afternoon I think.
Dark Yard said they missed us. They are very kind.

August 2000
The Drum Corps Calls to Arms. Tariq and I, in a fit of
unbridled testoterone and huge members (and then we woke up) decided to
authorize with heavy weapons so we could man the trebuchet. So we
ended up fighting in the woods battle.
Did we even drum with Darkyard onto the main
battle field this year? Hmmm. Also, the test firing day was
the Drum Corps longest march to date. With only two drummers.
Drum drum drum drum stop. Adjust treb
wheels. Drum drum drum drum stop. Yup... adjust
treb wheels. All the way to the archer's range! What a
spectable we were. And then I think we drummed with Darkyard a
couple times. And parties... did we drum at any of our
parties? Wow, that'll teach me to write a year in review a year
after it happens. Good drums to all and to all a good drum...
wait... what??

August 1999The
Drum Corps Changes Faces. We were missing so many drummers that some
days it was just Me Tariq and Arion. Oh, and Dave. Here are
the events we played noting that memory fades with age and alcohol.
Annual Ceremony for Fred: This was our best
outing of the year. We played a sad march on the way to the tree,
then played an up tempo beat on the way back to Darkyard. Tariq
played a direful note across the valley.
Opening Ceremony: We stood in the sun for a
long time.
Various Battles most of which we were late
for. Arion drove us up on Saturday in his truck and Darkyard had
already started marching. We hopped out of the truck and lined up
and started kickin' some butt. Darkyard cheered as soon as we
started playing. Hooray for us.. so smell our
asses.

August 1998The Drum
Corps Marches on. This year I received my Amacus Darkyard, which
means friend of Darkyard. Faelchon had a field day with that
one. New members this year, Ray Me (spelling is incorrect) and
"Wren T. Adj/N. of your choice." Wren was pleasantly initiated by a
fine downpour during opening ceremonies... we all looked like drowned
Rats, except for Wren T. "Drowned Otter". But she came back!
On one occasion we marched with two different beats going on...
hey, we practice once a year and we drink heavily all year. The
hummous evening was our best PR occasion. We drummed the hummous up
to DarkYard for their open party and Tavis made me go through the Food
Court where everyone was staring at us... except they all seemed to enjoy
us. Some weiner scurried out from a tent and told us we had blown
away his concert. Well, if half your crowd turned around to admire
us, it ain't our fault your show sucked. I was amazed to see people
stop in their tracks and clap their hands in time with us as we marched
by. Talk about getting positive feedback from your audience!
Along the road other drummers came out to greet us and play along with
us! Members of House darkyard confided that we sounded like a
freight train coming down the road (a compliment I'm sure) and with the
scores of drummers who were coming out from everywhere playing along with
us we sounded ten times louder! what fun. Alas, we were short
one member this year and he was deeply missed. We'll join him soon
and we'll play another day!

August 1997Wow!!! We held together for a year and
we're getting BETTER. We marched almost everyday (I think I bagged one day
because I was still drunk and Nicholas bagged on another because he had
the heebie Jeebies) We marched Darkyard into battle with NEW rythyms, COOL
cadences, as well as a Dirge March for their fallen leader. One compliment
from Flynn... "We marched to court one night and it just wasn't the same
without the drum corps" We've been invited to play in Windsor in
November... more details to follow!!
|
| August 1996 Now this is truly
the first year we formed a drum corps and sent ourselves into battle. We
drummed the troops of Darkyard (Mid Realm) into battle, turned tail, and
got drunk. We got payed by Dark Yard's Lord in Beer and Salt. What more
could a corps asked for???? Tariq and Arion had cool taberds and we were
all jealous, so we got them really drunk.
|
| August 1995There may have
been some musings about forming a drum corps, but it was never serious nor
acted upon. We were probably drunk too.
|
| August 1994 I think I missed
this year due to mundane work responsibilities
|
| August 1993I'm sure we're
getting better, but the beer makes memory a bit fuzzy
|
| August 1992 This year I
camped with Wulf Den. They are so nice, me thinks to myself. The drummers
are growing in number, more are interested in learning to drum; some
(outside of Wulf Den, -snob ed.) are content to just make noise.
|
| August 1991Bai Xiao Hu camped across from Wulf Den. There was a wedding of some Blah marrying another Blah Blah. Tariq and Hu played recorders, Faelchon played drum and someone else played drum, I think. This was known as "Tun o' Flesh". Today they are no longer in existence
