Pennsic 39

Crossposted from the Pennsic email list:

Quote

Hello all,

Sorry for the late update- everything seems to be running behind this year... The land office was delayed by almost 2 weeks, but block assignments have been made and we are once again in our traditional spot. Additionally, there are no new groups assigned to the block, so land grab should go smoothly. If all the block reps are present on zero night, we may even be able to get our map approved early.

Please let me know what your expected arrival date is, and if you plan to be there for setup. Just as a reference, Pennsic begins this coming Friday, Jul. 30 at noon and runs through 3 pm Sunday August 15.

Camp needs, so far, are:
3 (at least) grill size propane tanks, full (you can keep the tank, the camp just needs the propane )
12 (or so) 1 lb. propane bottles (if everyone brings 1 we'll have plenty)
paper towels (a lot)
plastic forks/spoons (especially forks)
paper plates (dinner size) (have 40, we use a lot)
plastic cups (tumbler size) (have 50, we use a lot)
we STILL do NOT need aluminum foil.
small bottle of laundry soap, biodegradable preferred.
39 gallon trash bags
fatwood/firestarters
a few aim-n-flames

We currently may have an issue getting pallets up to the site on first weekend. Granifar can obtain pallets, but they need transport to the site this weekend. Other options would be buying pallets there, I'm exploring that, and currently talking with Ulfr about the possibility of him bringing 1 or 2 this weekend with he and Emer. Any other ideas, please let me have 'em.

Okay, that's all I have for the moment- I'll drop further updates as I think of them, and see you all soon!

Pennsic event idea...

So had a thought for this year- the First Annual Boggie Games! Got the idea from this pic, and it would definitely be one of the events- the dead cat toss (no, not an actual dead cat )...

Possible other events would be the stacked beer can carry and the keg lift, maybe integrate things like Spear the Beer and The Goblins' Whip the Tiki game...

Thoughts?

Oh, kilts would be a must...

Kitchen Pavilion? (& a deal on a used Regent)

Greetings Clan Peeps!

I just got off the horn with Panther, and know that delivery time on pavilions is down to around 4-5 weeks at this time.
Question is - are we still considering the purchase of a new Kitchen Pavilion, and if so, what size exactly and what sort of canvas? (there's 4 different types, one of which we are NOT getting) I'm running off my (bad) memory here, but I believe the one we have is around 10 x 20? And that the consensus was that wider might be better than longer? (of course, that is usually a personal preference, and none I would know anything of..) ;o)

Here's a few sizes to consider, all no poles, ropes, etc. - JUST the canvas:

12 x 18' - 7' walls - reg. 10 oz. Sunforger - no kit - $995
14' x 18' - same deal - $1100
15' x 21' - same deal - $1150

Custom sizes would be somewhere around the same, they don't charge extra but it might take a little more time. These are the catalog sizes and retail prices.

All of these would include the 7' walls which come in 4 pieces and can be arranged to suit as there are no real "corners" to contend with. Walls CAN BE used as a "shed roof" - that is, can be pulled out as a sloped roof on an end or a side and supported with more poles/ropes if desired. Which might make a narrower tent yet more livable than a wider one - and cheaper. And of course we would be getting my price, NOT the prices which I've listed. (can subtract 15-20% off those)
We would have to figure something out with either shipping or sales tax if picked up, and I'd prefer not to have this charged to my acct. for my taxes and stuff. (a cash deal) That way I can give Clan my actual cost, rather than needing to keep a bit...

Time will be going up for delivery in a short period here. And if we're not doing this now, no biggie. I just wanted to throw it back out there since we've discussed it a couple times now.

Cheers everyone! Cowboy / Viktor / Vinnie / etc.

OH! And if anyone would be interested in a nice Regent style pavilion, I know someone who has one with only 5 Wars' use, no other events - with a matching, dagged fly and full setup kit, the larger size (like Fey and Tony's, but with 6' walls, not 7') - and she is asking just $700 for it. Not a bad price - but there'd be shipping. Call or write regular e-mail if you're interested. Canvas is in in N.J. - poles and kit at Pennsic in storage. She takes care of her stuff. Has one small repair on the roof form a pole-pin that was patched from the inside and went through all last War with no leaks.
